The worst has happened...okay, slight dramatization...

I lost my camera...and all of my most recent pictures because they were still on it...this tragedy has temporarily taken away my will to blog...*pout*

Opening Night at UTA

The University of Texas at Arlington just finished their new basketball arena, and we were fortunate enough to get tickets to a sold-out opening game night and performance. There were back-to-back women's and men's games, with a ribbon cutting ceremony in between. We took the girls, and met up with some of Brent's co-workers and had a pretty fun, entertaining evening. Here are some of the pictures and videos from the night.

Thanks UTA for such a great night out!

Me-OW!

Last night, after the kids were finally in bed asleep, Brent and I were relaxing with nothing to do. We were laying on the LuvSac: Brent had his laptop out checking out some things on the internet, and I was in a mentally comatose state, just happy to not be thinking about anything for a few minutes. It was a nice, relaxing moment.
Then, something spooked the cats, and they ended up in a little catfight. This is nothing unusual...our cats fight all the time. However, this is the first time they've ever commenced fighting ON TOP OF US!! It was a blur of fur, claws, and hissing that lasted no longer than 5-10 seconds, but somehow I don't think I'll ever forget the strange surrealness of the moment.
Here are some of the results:

And just to clarify, these are not different perspectives of the same wounds, but rather they are each their own unique individual. Additionally, for the sake of maintaining out dignity, not all wounds were photographed.
Thanks cats.

Random Video Clips

Here are some video clips from the last couple of months:

Tylie entertaining Kaelisse. As I walked into the room initially, I almost jumped down Tylie's back for being so mean to her sister....but I've been learning to take a few extra seconds to observe what's actually going on before I react. Luckily I stopped myself and, instead, witnessed a fun little interaction between the girls. LOL. I missed the best part of all this, because I didn't get my camera out in time. But Kaelisse was BUSTING UP! She thought this was so funny!

Tylie showing off her athleticism. She does this kind of stuff all over the place....always preferring to run, jump, and climb.

Toddlers running is the cutest thing ever....oh to be two again and have this kind of energy and enthusiasm.

You have to listen to this to make it interesting...she had a squeak toy in her hand. I thought it was a bit amusing.

A new Christmas toy. I thought it would be a little tough for her to use---requires coordination and a little strength---but she mastered it pretty quickly. Now she is "past" the real use of it and uses the thing as a jumping platform, step ladder, etc.

Our Little Scholar

I think Kaelisse is well on her way to being a college graduate. What do you think?

Zoo Time!

On the Monday following New Years, we packed up the girls and drove a little way into Fort Worth to spend the day at the zoo. The Fort Worth Zoo is beautiful, has many exotic and interesting animals, and entertained us for hours. I didn't take as many pictures as I thought I had, but did manage to take a few interesting ones.
I love how interested Tylie is in animals. We have been to many zoos and spent many, many hours looking at the animals, and she never seems to get bored with it. Us girls sitting in front of a gigantic elephant sign....that's the leg behind us. I LOVE spending time with my girls!
This particular day, Tylie had an interest and fascination with finding the lion. It's all she could talk about for the first half of our excursion, until we finally came across the lion den. Poor guy seemed a little lonely in there all alone.

This is what Kaelisse was doing while the rest of us were pining over the animals....I think she may have had the right idea. Sleep.....or animals.....?? Maybe I should have chosen sleep, too! Although slightly nervous at first, Tylie warmed up to and really ended up enjoying the opportunity to feed the birds. By the end, she even let this one stand on her arm for quite a while to polish off the seeds on her stick. Some of the highlights of the trip included: watching a black rhino throw a huge metal barrel around, listening to the jaguar growl repeatedly and pace while he waited for his dinner, looking at the orange AND white tigers and marveling at how gorgeous their coats are, etc.
At the end of the day, stopping by the bathroom to wash up. I'd say the trip was a success!
